About Us & Our Pets

Our Pets:

Buddy

Buddy joined our family in August of 2002 at the age of 6 1/2 months.  Our son told us that Buddy was in an abusive situation and his owners left him in the backyard when they moved.  He came to our house, jumped on the couch and it is still his favorite spot.

Molly

We were looking for another dog and found
Molly who we adopted through Bare Bones Rescue in August 2008 at the age of 5 months old.  Molly is an energetic sheltie/border collie mix who loves to herd the cats.  She never runs out of energy.

Abby

We adopted Abby on 3/16/09 at the age of seven weeks.  One of my students, who knows about my love of animals, asked if we were interested in one of her kittens and of course we said yes.   We took this picture while she was checking out the new "toy" with all the red balls for her to play with.

Sammy

We adopted Sammy in December of 2008.  We were driving past our local pet store and noticed a sign for satellite adoptions from the local shelter. We went in and adopted Sammy and took her home five days later. Sammy loves to snuggle with us at the end of the day.
About Us:

Vicki:
I was a school counselor for 12 years in a middle school.  I have
two master’s degrees, MSW and M.Ed from UCONN School of Social Work and Cambridge College, respectively.

My interest in pet therapy began in 1994 when we adopted Casey, a golden retriever mix.   We had four teenagers and we found that with Casey we started doing more together, like taking walks, taking her to obedience class and communication in our home increased significantly because of her presence.  As a result of this experience, I explored the benefits of pet therapy and started pet therapy programs at two middle schools.  Our Lhasa Kristie accompanied me to a long-term facility where I was interning in 1997.  At Adams Memorial Middle School (AMMS) in Adams, Massachusetts, I started working with Morgan a long haired German Shepherd.  When I moved to another school my principal adopted a Golden Retriever named Savanna and I worked with her for several years.

When I returned to AMMS I worked with a Cocker Spaniel named Angel.  Pet therapy in a middle school works because dogs are non-judgmental, accept everyone for themselves, are soothing and provide safe touch.  In 2002, our program was featured on Animal Planet’s Wild Rescues.  (See articles below)

Dale: I have worked in retail the past few years and worked at a national pet store as a manager.  I am certified in dog, cat, fish, small animal, and bird care. I love to take our dogs on long walks around town and on our bike trail.

Us as Pet Owners:

We were fortunate that we didn't have to board our first three dogs for most of their lives because we had children at home or in the area.
After several years, our children moved and while we found a place we felt was very safe, clean, and took very good care of our pets, but we still worried that they might be stressed. This was because even in the best setting it didn't compare to their pampered lives and what they had at home.  We had people come in when we left for the day but always worried if they were giving our pets quality time.

We understand how it feels to leave your pets and worry how our pets handled our absence.  It is our goal to make a difference in your pet's life while you are away.

As pet sitters we want to provide the quality service we expect for our own pets.  We also want to accommodate people's unpredictable schedules and give pets the time and attention they deserve.  We will always treat your pet(s) like we would our own.
